I. Overview and Scope

This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, storage, and disclosure of personal information gathered by Emerson Latin LLC ("Emerson Latin," "we," "us," or "our") through our website, consultations and bookings, enrollment, classes, payment processing, newsletters, and any related correspondence. It applies to everyone who interacts with our website or services, including parents, guardians, and students.

II. Information We Collect

We collect only what is reasonably necessary to teach our students and communicate with their families.

What stays on your device. To show class times in your own time zone, the website reads your device's time zone inside your browser. This is not sent to us. The course finder and path planner likewise work entirely in your browser and store nothing.

What we do not collect. We do not purchase, rent, or acquire personal information from data brokers, and we do not collect sensitive categories of information beyond what teaching and payment require.

III. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to recommend a course and place a student; to admit and enroll students; to teach, record, and grade classes; to report progress to families; to register students for contests they have chosen to enter; to process payment and refunds; to send newsletters a family has subscribed to; to respond to correspondence; to improve the website using aggregate usage data; and to comply with legal obligations. We do not use personal data for advertising or behavioral profiling.

IV. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent personal information. We share it only as needed with the services that help us teach and run the academy:

When a student enters an international contest, we share the details its organizers require, such as name, grade, and school. Classmates see one another in live classes and in the course's recordings. We may also disclose information if required by law.

V. Class Recordings

Every group class is recorded and posted to the course's Google Classroom, where it is available only to the enrolled students of that course and their families, for the duration of the course. Recordings are not published and are not used in marketing or anywhere outside the course without a parent or guardian's express written consent.

VI. Published Results

Students are named in our News, in Commendations for contest results and in Laurels for individual milestones, only with the permission of the student and a parent or guardian. A family may ask us to remove or change a published item at any time, and we will do so.

VII. Payment Processing

All payments are processed through Stripe. Emerson Latin does not receive or store full card numbers. Processing fees and refund deductions are described in the Terms and Conditions.

VIII. Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies that collect aggregate usage data. We do not use advertising cookies. Most browsers allow cookies to be managed or disabled, and the website works without them.

IX. Data Security

We use encrypted transmission (SSL/TLS), restricted access, and established service providers. No method of transmission or storage is entirely without risk, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

X. Data Retention

Contact and enrollment records are retained for the duration of the relationship and a reasonable period after. Class recordings are kept for the duration of the course and a reasonable period after. Payment records are retained as financial and tax regulations require, typically seven years. Newsletter data is retained until you unsubscribe. Aggregate analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

XI. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information; withdraw consent; object to certain processing; or unsubscribe at any time. Write to contact@emersonlatin.com, or message us on KakaoTalk or WhatsApp; we respond within thirty days.

XII. Children and Minors

Most of our students are minors. Enrollment, contact, and payment details are provided and managed by a parent or guardian, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child under thirteen without verifiable parental consent. Student names and enrollment details are never disclosed publicly or used in marketing without a parent or guardian's express consent.

XIII. Third-Party Links

Our website links to sites we do not operate, among them Instagram, the Naver Blog, Cal.com, KakaoTalk, and WhatsApp. Their own privacy practices apply there, and we are not responsible for them.

XIV. Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy to reflect changes in our practices, applicable law, or our services. The date of the latest revision appears at the top of this page, and material changes are communicated to current families and subscribers by email where practicable.
