Admissions Common Doubts X of XI
How will I know it’s working?
The short answer: You will see it: graded work every week, a report card every term, and results from contests that are judged by strangers.
The worst part of any lesson a parent cannot sit in on is not knowing. So we have tried to make progress visible.
Every week, your child’s homework is checked and graded in Google Classroom, where you can see it. Every class is recorded, so you can watch one whenever you like. At the end of each term, you receive a report card.
And through the year, there are the contests: the National Latin Exam, the National Latin Vocabulary Exam, the translation and etymology contests, and, at the end, the AP exam. These are written and marked by people who have never met your child. A teacher’s praise is pleasant; a Gold Medal from a national exam is evidence.
There is also a quieter sign, which parents usually notice before any certificate arrives. Your child begins to point out where English words come from, unprompted, at dinner.
